Meditation changes your state. Why doesn't it change your patterns?

A grounded path for meditators who've found the calm and are ready for the change underneath it.

THE GAP

Calm is overrated.

You can sit in stillness for hours and still avoid the one email you don't want to send.

If you've meditated for years and still get triggered by the same things, you're not doing it wrong. Meditation is very good at changing your state — calm, clarity, and bliss. But the afterglow fades by the afternoon, and the old patterns are still waiting: the same reactivity, the same avoidance, and the same loops.

That gap — between the afterglow and lasting change — is real.

Beyond Calm is about closing it.

THE BOOK

Beyond Calm

Why Meditation Is Not Enough — and How to Heal the Patterns That Shape Your Inner World

You've been meditating for years. You've done the retreats, read the books, maybe even touched something profound on the cushion. So why do you still get triggered by the same things? Why do the same patterns keep running your life?

Beyond Calm is for meditators who suspect something is missing. It's an honest look at why meditation alone often falls short, and what it actually takes to heal the patterns underneath. This is a book about the body, the emotions, the relationships, and the parts of yourself you've been bypassing. It's about meditation that faces everything.

In the end, what's waiting there isn't just another technique — but a practice big enough to hold all of you.

ABOUT

Hi, I'm Misha.

I spent years as an executive recruiter and then a startup founder before I burned out completely.

I'd been meditating daily for over a decade, through several silent retreats and genuine mystical experiences. But none of it had stopped me from running myself into the ground.

That forced a deeper reckoning. Why was I practicing? What was I avoiding? What actually needed to change? I went on to study what meditation can and can't do on its own — across vipassana, nondual, and jhana practices, and more therapies than I can name. Alongside that, the body, nervous-system, and relational work that finally moved change off the cushion and into daily life.

Today I write, teach, and lead retreats across Japan, helping people find a way to practice that feels grounded, safe, and human. Beyond Calm is everything I wish I'd had when I started.
